Kimono’s, the Catwalk edit – the best ones to buy now

Vintage Kaftan SK Vintage

Kimono’s are huge this season.

As this is such an easy trend to wear and is actually really practical (hides your bum and is an outfit in itself).

Don’t buy the Zara ones.  This is a trend to buy vintage because you will get glorious fabrics and cuts and no one else will have them!

Look for cottons and silks but avoid all the nasty polyester as you will swelter in them once the sun comes out.  You just cannot beat vintage as the fabrics (if you are careful) are just so much better quality than the high street.

The easiest trend shape to wear are the shorter ones as they can be thrown over jeans.  I bought mine from SK Vintage; they have tons in store so if you are in London, head over there, or check their Instagram.  Sarah will ship anywhere.

Alternatively, Etsy is a great place to go.  They have so many vintage sellers under one roof that it makes searching so much easier.  I update my Wish List regularly so if you follow me it saves you having to trawl through all the thousands of items.

I love to wear them over shorts as they are lightweight, and I am not that keen on everyone seeing the backs of my legs when I wander around.  They look great over a bikini or swimsuit too, as I have styled them above.  I often wear them over a pair of joggers.  Either way, I would make sure that you pair them with something quite modern, especially, if like me, you are over 40, as there is always that danger you can look a bit like a crazed bag lady.  They are a great alternative to kaftans and for me are a saviour over shorts in the Summer months.

Check out the following pieces I have spotted, they are all vintage, on Etsy or check ASOS Marketplace for some really well priced options. Loads of pieces exactly like the ones featured in the piece.

The ones I have found are as good as pieces that are retailing for £500 in Selfridges, I checked!
