My obsession with the perfect Mary Jane shoe started after seeing Sarah Jessica Parker but being a UK 7 they all made my feet look huge. The D&G ones from last season cost more than I wanted to spend and I wanted something simpler. I adore SJP’s own brand shoes which are featured below but I know from past experience that whilst glitter looks great on photos, I just wouldn’t reach for them on a day to day basis.
Get a Mary Jane right and your feet look delicate and feminine, and in the age of more and more outlandish footwear, a classic shoe will serve us well.
I wanted a kitten heel I could take away on holiday, or know that I could actually manage to walk around in, and I fell in love with the Rochas one. I was put off by the price but when I tracked it down on sale at Farfetch, and with my Chanel’s sold they became mine! I much prefer this heel to the block heel that abounded last year, which again looks great if you have tiny feet, but made my feet look like flippers.
I am going to wear my Mary Jane’s with my cropped jeans or a pair of Max Mara trousers, that I have had forever, but have never worn as I have never had the right shoe, but they are also going to be a great party shoe under dresses and evening suits.
I have rounded up the best ones from designer to high street and vintage to preloved to help you find the perfect pair!
Prada are leading the way this year but I adore what LK Bennett and some of the American department stores have brought and there are lots of links below to my favourites .
The divine Mia Moltrasio (thanks to a mum at school who tipped me off) ). They even send you a matching sock as featured below.
Wishing you a all a fabulous weekend and please don’t hesitate to send me in any requests for items you are trying to track down.
