New Season inspiration if money was no object!

spring edit 2018 header

Spring is here and I hope you are busy clearing your wardrobes (if you need a hand email me on catwalkschoolgates@gmail.com).  We have cleared so many readers unworn/unwanted pieces on our shop on the blog.

Once my clear out is complete I like to decide on one or two investment pieces.  I know that these pieces won’t make the sale and will work hard in my wardrobe with my existing pieces.  The rest I will try to buy for less, preloved, at a sample sale or vintage fair and the odd high street bit thrown in.

However, if money was no object then these are some of the pieces that would be winging their way to me:

spting edit 2018 (1)

Lets start with shoes; I have culled almost all my high heels as I just haven’t the patience to teeter around.

A great midi heel is much more useful.  The ones on my Wish List are from Alexandre Birman called the Clarita.  They come in loads of different finishes but I want the nude.  They are a wearable heel and I adore the bow detail.

Or do I embrace the bow flat; there are lots of pretenders but the Row are the ones to watch.  I am so tempted by these but they are a fortune so won’t be happening but they are so truly beautiful.

Dad trainers cannot be avoided, New Balance 624 (£50) are well priced but I am lusting after the Tod’s option.

The Posse are my top tip for comfortable sandals (size up) and I always invest in one pair of slides – check out Balenciaga and Balmain or Gucci.

I have lived in these ballet flats from The Place – they are the most comfortable pair I own and are still on sale.

Dresses; I always invest in one good dress but a lot of the dresses featured are a fortune, therefore, I will be waiting for the sales, but even if they are out of budget, they are for me, they give me an idea of what to look for Preloved or on the high street.

I adore Lisa Marie Fernandez.  She is an expert at producing the best holiday dress; the red floral one is divine.  I adore the sleeves and the length (hate dresses that trail) and the pattern is modern.  A lot of the floral dresses are too Mummsy for me.

Peter Pilotto is the one to watch; his dresses are exquisite.  I am currently hunting a vintage piece to emulate the one shoulder floral nude dress above the pink one from Mara Hofmann or the yellow silk dress from Mother of Pearl

Check out the outlet at Tara Jarmon; they have loads of dresses like the black one featured above.  I adore Essential Antwerp and the polka dot one is so well priced.  I will also be bringing you lots of great skirts in the next few weeks.

I haven’t found the perfect dress yet and will report back when I do!  If you need a couple of well priced pieces then check out Matches (loads of last season on sale now).

Check out Girlfriend for jeans; I adore the colour and cut. The leopard print trousers are from Ganni as are the blue trackpants.  Watch out for the taupe Haider Ackerman ones in the sale.  Raey are my favourite for chinos and wearable trousers.

At this time of the year a fresh new top is the first thing to invest in as it will lift all your existing pieces.  The Matches sales section is the first place to look and I found this white one featured above from SEA.  I also adore the one shoulder top from Roland Mouret which is also on sale.

A new sweatshirt and denim shirt  is also on my Wishlist (again, I adore Raey) and I adore the tracktops from Koche but I have found very similar on Etsy.

I am not one for expensive bags (I am not one to look after them) but I do adore the Saint Laurent one! Top of my list is the Roksanda tote it is so well priced and combines practicality and is so beautiful.

Blazers are key at this point in the year and Blaize Milano are divine (expensive) but are the perfect length and the cut is universally flattering. There are loads of preloved versions that I have already featured !

The key is to decide what will work hardest in your wardrobe and combine with the pieces you already have. I will report back after out visit to Net a Porter and let you know what other pieces I find.

Love
