Wearing maxi dresses during the day is just not practical, they trail in the mud and rain and they hinder you from getting what you have to do done.
The drouser is the new trend and it really works! It is a take on the midi dress that you can wear over trousers and hottest in a floral fabric with ruffles.
I won’t be wearing mine over trousers as I am too old for these shenanigans but I will be wearing mine with a pair of lace up kitten heel boots (found on the French Preloved site Jolie Closet). The key is to look for great flattering shapes, H&M as well as ASOS are doing the best entry level ones. Longchamp the best designer version as worn by Netti Weber below. Go low or go high and avoid the middle entry brands that are just not a step enough for the extra money that they are demanding.
I would look at J Crew for trainers as worn above and Topshop for an oversized denim jacket, or So Sue and the lace up boot works so well with these dresses. I am trying to wean myself off trainers with dresses all the time and I am preparing a ‘shoes you can walk in’ edit for Wednesday. Also look out for brown handbags as I see them popping up and being worn by all of the magazine editors, and I am currently bidding on the Dior one above.
Above, I am wearing reclaimed vintage, I also adore this one from reclaimed vintage and the H&M item featured above is sold out online but you can still hunt them down in store. I have added some great preloved pieces below.
If you are making your Sales List put the darlings of New York Fashion Week, Alessandra Rich, also Acne and Marni on. They have some glorious pieces but they are a fortune and I’m not sure this is where I would invest my money as this is a trend of the moment.
The brand I have my eye on is Horror Vacui. I am obsessed by this brand; it is pricey but they are so unique and I will be keeping my eye out for their sale.
Check out the links below this is a real fashion item and so in my opinion best to trial with a highstreet piece to see if you actually get wear out of the trend.
