I was feeling so smug, I bought my jacket in the Winter sale, but today, it went up in flames, (don’t even ask, but not sure about the wisdom of candles in gyms!). Now I am back to square one and wanting a box fresh jacket to kick start Spring. It needs to be warm enough to wear now, yet not too heavy, so that I can wear it all the way through to June and then again in September.
Forget all those dresses that are flooding Instagram, get your Spring jacket first because it is the one thing that you can wear now. I do think that a pea coat/car coat/reefer jacket is the best option. They work in the car, you can layer with a sweater in Spring and they just look polished and put together. The holy grail is Joseph and Raey or Stella (now on sale) or Marant – the one below that is now burnt was from Set Fashion and I bought it in the Sale . Most of these are expensive, yes, worth it, but I cannot stretch to those prices so what are the other options?
I want sublime fabrics and cuts that challenge the Raey jacket so I will be looking preloved. For jackets my first choice is Vestiaire Collective and I spotted one from Marni, Carven and Chloe. I found a great one from Joseph. There are also piles of the Balmain for HM ones on Vestiaire.
Ebay also has heaps – check out this one from Marks and Spencer, 100% wool from £5. I also spotted an Aquascutum one in green. The Outnet has a great one from Vince but only in a really small size. I also saw a Gant one on sale.
Don’t forget Florence and Fred – they have one that has just gone online and it will sell out fast at £25.
Also love Fillipa K on sale now at Zalando.
Alternatively, this one below from Arket is cut so beautifully, it’s one to watch out for in the sales (it comes in grey too), as at £250 I think it is currently overpriced.
The reality is that I am going to try and have my fire damaged jacket repaired as nothing really compares for the price – wait and see if the Raey ones go on sale (they never do but a girl can hope!).
This shape is a wardrobe staple and you will bring it out year after year. Add a bomber and military jacket and you are all set for Spring. I will review these in the next weeks!
